Life at the Institute

 

Each week begins on Sunday with registration in the Mayo Center Library from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Registration is followed by dinner, an opening session and the first class session. The week concludes with lunch on Friday.

 

Institute classes are informal. Sport clothing suitable for study and recreation in northern New England is appropriate.

3:30-5:30 p.m. 
Afternoon Activities (Activities are available each afternoon that highlight Vermont’s rural setting. Hiking, kayaking, golf, mountain biking as well as the Academy’s athletic center.)

 

5:00-6:00 p.m.
Social Hour (Beer, wine and appetizers served in Streeter Amphitheater.)

 

6:00-7:00 p.m.
Dinner in Streeter Dining Hall

 

7:00-9:30 p.m.
Evening Activities (Craft beer tasting, Camp St. J Trivia Night, bocce, etc.)

 

** Workshops end at noon on Friday 

 

** Commuters – Consider purchasing a meal plan and join us for breakfast, social hour, and afternoon & evening activities.

The Camper’s Checklist!

No camping experience is complete without a checklist of items to bring to our AP Summer Institute. You may want to bring some (or all!) of the items on the following list:

 

  • Window Fan (Dorm Rooms are not air-conditioned)

  • Shower caddy and flipflops

  • Swimwear

  • Beach Towel

  • Sport Clothing (Suitable for Northern New England)

  • Tennis Racquet and Balls

  • Golf Clubs

  • Sturdy Footwear (for hiking)

  • Running or Walking Shoes

  • Bikes

  • Camera

  • Writing Journal

  • Sunscreen
