Participation Information

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased that you have chosen St. Johnsbury Academy for your studies during the summer of 2024. Our consultants and staff members have planned a challenging and fun-filled week for you whether you attend online or onsite. We are ready to help you meet your professional development goals.

In Person Schedule, Programming, and Activities

Essential information about the daily schedule, programming, and afternoon and evening activities, as well as a camper’s checklist and directions to our campus can be found on our website. Check out the “Camp St. J” menu for more detailed information. Be sure to check out the links to our afternoon and evening destinations! Please note, there is a modest charge for some of our activities.

In Person Registration Sunday

Institute Registration will take place in the Mayo Center (our library) from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7; Sunday, July 14 and Sunday, July 21.

Late registration is from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Streeter Cafeteria.

A social hour at 5:00 p.m., special buffet at 6:00 p.m., and opening general session at 7:00 p.m. will complete the evening. There will be a short, initial session of each workshop on Sunday evening.

One of the most productive parts of any workshop is the sharing of ideas that takes place. Please bring copies of syllabi, problems, labs, or exercises for your session to share with fellow participants.

Final Payment and School Purchase Orders

If there is a balance due on your registration, final payments can be made at registration. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover). If your school is paying by purchase order, please have your school email the purchase order to Stacie Ruggles at sruggles@stjacademy.org or fax to (802) 751-2127.

We understand that some schools may be paying for the workshop during the next fiscal cycle. If so, please have them forward the purchase order after July 1.

Airport Shuttles to Onsite Workshops

We have tentatively scheduled two shuttle pick ups (11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.) at Burlington International Airport and at the Manchester, NH Airport. Shuttles return to Burlington and Manchester on Friday after classes end at noon. For return flights, we typically recommend booking a flight out of Burlington no earlier than 5:00 PM and out of Manchester no earlier than 6:00 PM. The cost is $150 round trip. The cost is $150 round trip. You can pay us on arrival at check in. Please email Courtney McManus at apsi@stjacademy.org as soon as possible to confirm flight arrival and departure times (or if you would like to use this service). The Burlington airport is a 1.5 hour drive from St. Johnsbury, and the Manchester Airport is about 2.5 hours from St. Johnsbury. The shuttle will take you directly to registration.

Graduate Credit and Continuing Education Units

As we are co-sponsored by the College Board, we will be awarding Certificates of Program Completion indicating 30-contact hours at the Institute. You must attend ALL sessions to be eligible for a certificate or graduate credit.

Three (3) graduate credits may be earned through Southern NH University ($375). The fee for these credits will be payable to St. Johnsbury Academy.

Lodging On-Campus

Our dorm rooms are not air-conditioned (except Brantview), so it is highly recommended that you bring a window fan for your comfort (our library and classrooms are air-conditioned). Additionally, you may want to also bring your own pillow and a small desk lamp (all rooms have overhead, LED or florescent lighting). Please note, we DO provide sheets and linens for your stay. Each dormitory has a laundry facility.

Lodging Off-Campus

If a dorm room does fit your needs, there are several local hotels and retail options. The Comfort Inn is a very close to campus and is offering a special discounted rate of $179/night for our guests. Please tell them you are with ‘AP Summer Institute SJ Academy’ when reserving your room. Consider buying a commuter meal plan so that you can enjoy our delicious evening meals!

Other options include The Burke Mountain Hotel and rentals in VRBO or Airbnb

Recreational Facilities

Our Field House facility will be open throughout the week for swimming, running, tennis, or the use of the exercise equipment. There is no extra charge for the use of the Field House and pool.

We will have many activities available in the afternoons and evenings for those staying on campus (and those with commuter meal plans). We offer such activities as kayaking, hiking, biking, bocce, dance, and other recreational options such as swimming, cardio workout, weight workouts, pick-up basketball, etc.
