Consultant Bio
Bill Spruytte has taught at Lapeer High School since February 2007. He has taught ELA at all grade levels. By Bill’s third year teaching (2009-2010), he had a section of AP English Language and Composition. This led him to teach AP English Literature and Composition, and, eventually, AP Seminar.
Bill was the first teacher in the state of Michigan to teach AP Seminar. He trained in 2014, went to the reading in 2015, and became a consultant in 2016. Bill also participated in a few AP Seminar standard setting panels (2015 and 2017). Bill is currently endorsed to lead weeklong sessions for AP Seminar and AP Seminar for ELA. Additionally, he leads one day, skill based workshops: AP Skills and Practices and Developing Evidence-Based Written Arguments. He leads sessions in person and virtually. He enjoys being able to connect with teachers from around the country and grow his own teaching capacity concurrently.
After spending a few years reading for AP Seminar, Bill switched over to AP Research due to a need for readers in the subject area. He became a Table Leader in 2019 and has rotated between Table and Early Table Leader since then.
Aside from teaching AP Seminar, Bill spends his time coaching two sports: Cross Country and Track and Field. The two sports, combined with offseason training, allow Bill to work with his athletes nearly year round.
