Theresa Fischer

Theresa Fischer established the AP Economic program at Ridgefield High School in 2000 in Ridgefield, Connecticut. They have grown from one class to having over 100 students participate in the AP Macroeconomics and Microeconomics program.  Within this program the students participated in the Council for Economic Education Economics Challenge, The NY Federal Reserve Bank Challenge (top five teams) and Euro Challenge (winning three times). Theresa has been awarded Teacher of the Year by the Ridgefield school system, along with the Alfred Sloan award for Excellence in Economic Education by the CEE and the Northwestern Award for Excellence in Secondary Education. Theresa has conducted webinars and workshops in both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics throughout the US. 

Theresa served as a member of the Development Committee for College Board from 2008 -2012 and served as a Question Leader at the AP Grading.  She was on the team to create the CED for Macroeconomics.  She loves working with teachers to help promote the AP Economics program. Theresa looks forward to sharing the numerous challenges and solutions that teachers face daily with the AP Economics courses. Teaching the rigor and joy of the AP Economics course to teachers who will help students achieve success, is what gives her the most satisfaction. 

Theresa is presently teaching Macroeconomics and Microeconomics at Iona University and Manhattanville University in Westchester County, NY. She was recently awarded Adjunct Professor 2023 from Iona University. Her passion is to read and travel and share her experiences with her students.
