Laura is entering her 30th year teaching mathematics and statistics. Her interest in the field of statistics began in college as she sought a way to relate her double major in mathematics and geography. She pursued this interest by earning an M.S. in statistics from UMass, Amherst. After teaching AP Calculus and AP Statistics for ten years at The Hotchkiss School in CT, she and her family moved to Exeter, NH where she continues to teach both AP courses at Phillips Exeter Academy. At Exeter, Laura was awarded the Harlan M. Ellis Instructorship Award, the Brown Faculty Family Award and the Rupert Radford ’56 Faculty Fellowship. Laura has been actively involved in AP Statistics since 1998 when she began as a reader. She has served as a Reader, Table Leader, Question Leader and is currently an Exam Leader. She completed 7 years on the Test Development Committee for the AP Statistics exam and continued to serve as a writer on a Content Development Team for ETS. In addition to AP Consulting, Laura is the director of the summer Exeter Math Institute – an intensive, hands-on professional development program for public middle and secondary school mathematics teachers. Aside from working with educators and students, Laura’s passions include world travel, camping, hiking, skiing, ice hockey and spending time with family.
